I'm so excited to see this title out on Kindle. Full disclosure, I was asked to be a beta reader for this work several years ago. Meg is a friend of friends who know we both write. I started it and then some major events in my life interrupted any "fun" reading for a long while. I lost the link and life went on. But these characters and the small town setting have stayed with me all this time. I'm looking forward to seeing how it all comes out for Penny and Jake. So, I'm cheating here, not having read the whole book, but I wanted to be the FIRST of what I'm sure will be a raft of good reviews. I figure any plot line and group of characters that can stay in my head for this amount of time deserve four star recognition.OK, this is my revised review. I finally had a chance to get back with Penny and Jake, and it was well worth it! Totally in agreement with the other reviews here and I'm upping my star rating to five. This is a great example of using the power of story to convey profound and sometimes difficult concepts without preaching, philosophizing, or metafizzling. It is comforting and inspirational on the order of Garth Stein's The Art of Racing in the Rain, a book I keep gifting. Thanks, Meg, for a great resource, as well as a great read!

Not everyone’s adjustment to the afterlife is smooth. What happens to the people who refuse to walk into The Light?
Change is scary. One of the things I enjoyed the most about this novel was how it explored why people are so afraid of new things and what happens when someone is caught off guard by it. I was especially intrigued by how the different characters reacted to circumstances that were sometimes similar to one another. No two people will necessarily respond the same way to the same sequence of events. It was interesting to see how their personalities and past experiences influenced their reactions to these scenes.
This book had a tendency to tell the reader what was happening instead of showing it to us. The characters themselves were well done, but I never had the chance to figure out what it was that made them so fascinating for myself because the narrator told me just about everything there was to know about them as soon as they were introduced. This tendency also extended to the plot itself. The premise was great, but I wasn’t able to immerse myself in what was happening because so much of it was revealed upfront.
The plot twists were nicely done. While I saw some of them coming ahead of time, there were also a few surprises along the way that I never would have expected from this tale. The author seemed to have an intuitive understanding of what the audience was expecting from her, and she knew exactly when to give to those expectations as well as when she should ignore them. Her creativity in this area makes me curious to see what she will come up with next!
I’d recommend At the Corner of Magnetic and Main to anyone who is in the mood for a romantic ghost story that isn’t frightening at all.

Boring. No real story except a young ghost's slowwww acceptance of going into the light. Male hottie ghost tempting her is an unpleasant immature jerk.
I really enjoyed this book. I liked the storyline, especially the friendships. Very interesting premise about the afterlife.
I read it while traveling to visit my family for the holidays and it was a great companion.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading "At the Corner of Magnetic and Main". Penny and her friends and their various stories were a little spooky but very realistic also. Could this actually happen, we'll all know some day. It's refreshing to read a book that doesn't need foul language or endless sex to tell a good story. Thank you Meg!
When you're satisfied with the status quo of being a ghost in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, well known for its spirits, what is it that you need to come into your afterlife to shake things up and stir feelings you haven't had since you died? Why, a handsome bad boy, of course; someone to challenge your day-to-today routine in ways both disturbing and amusing. The setting of Eureka Springs was expertly done and an impressive part of the book for me. It should be good for tourism. Meg Welch Dendler seamlessly weaves in the heart touching back-stories of the characters and keeps you engaged in a quick and mind-tingling read.
Meg Dendler has written a sweet and touching ghost story, filled with interesting characters, ghosts who eat ice cream (!), and important life lessons for both the living and the “dead.” Penny is a ghost that many of us can relate to…she’s stuck, doesn’t know how to get free, and isn’t altogether sure she even wants to get free. Then along comes a daredevil, prankster ghost who helps her see herself in a new way and turn things around.
Along with the eye-opening story, Meg’s book has wonderful descriptions of Eureka, Arkansas, where it all takes place.
The book was an enjoyable read. The characters that were the most important were pretty well developed, some of the others not so much.The ending was not really a surprise because it was inevitable. There were slow places which caused me to give it four rather than five stars.The main character was relatable as well other of the characters. The characters were developed in accordance with their importance. I would note, that the predictabliity for me may be due to my study of relationships as a marriage and family therapist. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in relationships and the transition into death.
