The blood of the black rose is a powerful and well-written story, and not your typical vampire/romance novel. It starts off with the death of Demyan’s sister during a blitz, and then it drags you into the Holocaust.
Erzsebet the vampire believes Demyan belongs to her, she comes to him in the concentration camp, but she does not turn him straight away, she allows him to suffer, and watch his people suffer and die every day.
Vadoma, a gypsy seer has seen the destruction of the gypsies, and the darkness that will consume Demyan, so she creates a bond between him and a young girl Alhena. Alhena is the light to combat the evil darkness. Alhena will be reborn to him throughout the decades until he is saved.
Many beautiful dark poems fill the pages. The story was a perfect blend of romance and darkness, with a slight touch of erotica.
The sexual scenes in the book are quite detailed, so I would not recommend it to younger readers of this genre.
I loved this story but the only thing for me that did not seem to capture the rest of the book was when Erzsebet is taken by The Merciless Order, I would have liked her to put up more of a fight, not been captured so easily. She is the most evil vampire in the book and I would have loved to see how cunning and cruel she could have been in this scene, but that’s just my personal opinion.
Even though this book is part of a series it can be a standalone book. I would highly recommend this book to everyone.
This book is ok...it took a few chapters in to grab my attention,but after that it was a good read.
It is fascinating and hard to put down. The characters jump off the page and live a life of their own in your mind. A great read and highly recommended. If you are drawn to the powerful world of vampires who crave sex and a sense of purpose, you will love it.. Cannot wait to read the sequel.
Best book I’ve ever read it was written so well and makes you feel like you are the characters feeling their emotions. Would highly recommend as a must read!! I plan to read it over again and again!!
This is not your typical vampire romance. This dark romance is heartbreaking, emotional, and has an ending that is unpredictable. The characters are so well developed. This story is for anyone looking for dark paranormal romance.
This author is able to take you deep into the story so that you engage with the characters and feel what they feel. I love to read and one way of knowing you are reading a good book Is that you don't want to put the book down till its finished. Everything is a very creatively described and forces you to go beyond your normal way of thinking and stretches your imagination into another world. It forces you temporarily leave the normality and engage with characters that are both exciting and extraordinary. This is a great book and this author knows how to keep your attention and interest till the very end !!
I found myself unable to wait for the next sentence as the vivid descriptions pulled me in as if I were actually experiencing the story through Demyan's eyes as opposed to only reading it! This style of writing is what sparked my love for reading and the author does not disappoint. The author wipes clean the slate and resurrects the vampire of old. Paired with a rarely touched subject of the holocaust, gypsies and just enough romance to soften the darkness, the author brings a story that leaves you wanting for more. Praise to the author for restoring my interest in the writings of the immortal soul and delivering a tale that keeps you from putting the book down in anticipation of what will come next! I can hardly wait to once again lose myself in Demyan's mind when his story continues.
